Kumon is a learning method that lets students learn on their own, not to be taught.
The Kumon Method does not include instructor-led classes; instead, students master Japanese on their own by reading, thinking and answering questions, using worksheets and CDs.
Kumon students start their studies from different levels and go through different processes, which enables them to improve their ability at their own pace.
The Kumon Method advances each student at the pace that matches the student's ability level; for example, one may have to repeat several times at certain sections but advance in other sections with no repetitions. At Kumon, students move on to the next step through repeating exercises as needed.
You will effectively acquire four skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking Japanese.
By sufficiently practicing how to read, write, and read aloud with the Kumon Method, you will learn the Japanese language in these four categories. In a correspondence course, you can practice speaking with the online reading lessons.
The instructors care for each student and offer individualized support.
The greatest joy of these Instructors is to see the growth of their students. While making their continuous effort to get to know more about each student, the instructors support the students to smoothly advance their studies and inspire their motivation to learn.
The study materials designed for self-study and individualized learning.
Using the detailed worksheets that progress in small steps, the Kumon program offers self-learning and individualized instruction that matches the proficiency level of each student. Japanese-language worksheets are available in English at 15 levels from 4A to L. These consist of 240 steps from beginners to primary and intermediate levels. After completing the program, you can continue your studies up to the advanced level through the Kumon Kokugo Program*. You usually start at Level CI of this program and advance to the highest level I II (contemporary writings) in 280 steps.
